Mike Church is in his third season as manager of the Cutters. Church was the hitting coach for the Cutters in 2004 after catching for seven consecutive playoff teams from 1995 to 2001. He was the everyday catcher for Northern League championship teams at Adirondack (Glens Falls, N.Y.) in 2000 and New Jersey in 2001, and played in the Northern League All-Star Game in 2001, when he finished the season hitting .266 with ten doubles. In his career, Church played in 353 games, posted a batting average of .252, with nine home runs and 147 RBI.
After playing at Western Connecticut State University for two years, he moved on to Central Connecticut State University where he was selected as an all-ECAC catcher. Later in the summer of 1994 while playing for the Bristol Nighthawks, he was honored with the New England Collegiate Baseball League’s 10th Player Award (most versatile position player). That season, he played seven positions (all but center field and pitcher). |
