LEMIEUX LEADS QUEBEC PAST WORCESTER AND TO FIRST HALF CROWN

Quebec 9, Worcester 8 The Capitales offense managed a run in all but three innings and Quebec held on late to edge Worcester and, with a Brockton loss, clinch the first half title. Capitales LF Jared Lemieux (Pictured) led the way at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a home run, a double, two runs scored and three RBI. Quebec CF Goefrey Tomlinson also homered, a two-run shot, and finished 1-for-5. Reliever Any Schon allowed just one hit and struck out three in four scoreless innings of relief to earn his second win. Fellow reliever Andrew Albers allowed a run in the ninth, but held on to pick up his fifth save.
Pittsfield 6, Brockton 2 Pittsfield starting pitcher Patrick Moran had a solid outing to lead the Colonials past Brockton, 6-2, on the road. Moran allowed two runs on three hits while striking out a pair over five innings to earn the win and improve to 1-1 on the season. Pittsfield 2B Danny Bomback led the way offensively, going 2-for-4 with a run scored and two RBI while 3B Jason Taylor chipped in with a 2-for-3 effort in which he doubled twice and drove in three. Brockton 3B Phillip Cuadrado was 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in the losing effort.
New Jersey 7, Sussex 6 Trailing 6-5 entering the bottom of the ninth inning, the New Jersey Jackals plated a pair to earn a 7-6 win over Sussex in walk-off fashion. After tying the score, New Jersey SS Mike DeJesus drove in DH Shawn Riggans with a sacrifice fly to center field to give the Jackals the victory. New Jersey 1B Jabe Bergeron was the start offensively, going 3-for-4 with a home run, a double, two runs scored and two RBI. Jackals reliever Edgar Estanga held the Skyhawks scoreless over the game's final 1.1 innings to earn his first win.
