CLEMENTS, LINCOLN LEAD SKYHAWKS TO DOUBLEHEADER SWEEP

Time: 1:42 Attendance: 700 W: Carter Clements (6-4) L: David Qualben (2-4) S: None HR: None A solid pitching performance by starter Carter Clements leads the Sussex Skyhawks to a game one win over the American Defenders of New Hampshire. Clements went the distance allowing only one unearned run on three hits with a walk. With the victory, Clements ran his record to 6-4 on the year. CF Jorge Moreno and C Ray Serrano provided the offense for Sussex. Moreno went 2-for-3 and scored both Skyhawks runs while Serrano had a 1-for-3 game and drove in both runs. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Sussex 8, New Hampshire 0 (Game 2 – 7 Innings) @ Augusta, NJ. Time: 2:09 Attendance: 540 W: Roger Lincoln (6-7) L: Rob Riley (2-3) S: None HR: None The Skyhawks completed the doubleheader sweep as starting pitcher Roger Lincoln (pictured) tossed a complete game three-hitter in the 8-0 win over New Hampshire. Lincoln gave up two walks while fanning two in collecting his sixth win of the season. C Ryan Boelsen led Sussex offensively going 2-for-3 with a double, two runs scored and a RBI. RF Ray Serrano and LF Ryan Crespi also chipped with two hits apiece for the Skyhawks. -------------------------------------------------------------------- New Jersey 7, Quebec 0 @ Quebec City, QC. Time: 2:36 Attendance: 4,489 W: AJ Wideman (10-1) L: Eric Gagne (6-6) S: None HR: NJ-Matt Lauderdale (5) The New Jersey Jackals rolled out to a 6-0 lead after two innings and cruised from there to an easy win over the Quebec Capitales. The victory by the Jackals is their fifth straight. New Jersey starter AJ Wideman had another outstanding pitching performance en route to his 10th win of the year. Wideman went seven innings allowing only five hits while fanning six batters. Jackals CF Timo Perez went 3-for-4 with a run scored and a RBI while C Matt Lauderdale chipped in with his fifth home run of the season in a 2-for-3 night. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Brockton 8, Worcester 4 @ Worcester, MA. Time: 3:14 Attendance: 2,415 W: Freddy Flores (6-5) L: Ryan Lobban (10-7) S: None HR: BR-Derek Kinzler (2) A terrific offensive performance by RF Derek Kinzler leads the Brockton Rox to their fifth straight win. Kinzler on the night was 4-for-5 at the plate with four runs scored and a RBI. He was a triple shy of hitting for the cycle. Rox starting pitcher Freddy Flores notched his sixth win of the season as he allowed two earned runs on seven hits in 7 1/3 innings of work. CF Lucas Taylor and 2B Greg Lemon each had two hits for Worcester in the losing effort. --------------------------------------------------------------------
