Quebec used three homeruns and a solid pitching performance from Michel Simard (pictured) to double up New Hampshire 6-3. Simard went seven innings and struck out nine while allowing three runs on five hits. 3B Pat Deschenes and 1B Eddie Lantigua hit back-to-back long balls in the third inning to help open up a 4-0 cushion for the Capitales. The Defenders answered with three in their half of the inning but Quebec got a run in the fifth and a solo shot from CF Goef Tomlinson in the eighth to put the game away. Simard moved to 7-6 with the win. New Hampshire starter David Qualben had a rough night as he walked seven men in 4 2/3 innings. He dropped to 2-3 with the loss.

Trailing 4-0 after five innings Brockton scored three in the top of the sixth inning and four in the seventh to rally past Worcester 8-5. Rox C Chris Grossman had a big game going 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored. Brockton DH Palmer Karr hit his 19th homer of the year and drove in two as part of a 2-for-4 night. Rox reliever Keith Noe struck out two in 1 1/3 innings and picked up the win. Worcester reliever Nick Conway dropped to 2-4 as he allowed three earned runs without recording an out. Tornadoes starter Baron Short pitched well for six innings as he struck out eight and allowed three runs on four hits.
